Dharsono is a CEO of Rimba Makmur Utama, an Indonesian company that manages the Katingan Mentaya Project, which conserves large areas of peat forest in the Indonesian Borneo, while providing sustainable sources of livelihood for local communities. Following six years at Pricewaterhouse Coopers and JP Morgan in New York, Dharsono went to executive roles at a local Indonesian company before starting his Katingan Mentaya Project in 2007. Dharsono Hartono is the CEO of PT Rimba Makmur Utama who managed the Katingan Mentaya Project , the world largest Nature Based Solution project producing more than 7 million tons of carbon credits annually.
Dharsono graduated with a Masters in Financial Engineering from Cornell University and has previous experience since 1998 in multinational companies such as PwC and JPMorgan, handling merger acquisition, debt management and financing and raising capital.
Recently, he works with World Economic Forum (WEF) to form the Natural Climate Solutions Alliance. He was named Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018, World Economic Forum’s 2020 Sustainability Pioneer as well as Schwab Foundation’s 2020 Social Entrepreneurs of the Year.
