The Global South-North Carbon Markets Dialogue

AACM is hosting the Global South-North Carbon Market Dialogue, in collaboration with Indonesia Climate and Growth Dialogue (ICGD) and Abatable, supported by Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL).

This event aims to:

  • Amplify Global South's voice on the need to include carbon credits as part of the decarbonisation journey of corporates, and advocate for SBTi to urgently count carbon credits to offset a portion of their Scope 3 emissions, especially in hard-to-abate cases where it is unreasonable to expect a firm to fully abate its emissions within a given timeframe.
  • Provide a preview of the need for a harmonised ASEAN Common Carbon Framework (ACCF) as ASEAN-BAC Malaysia 2025’s legacy project, further operationalising the ASEAN Strategy on Carbon Neutrality signed during Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship.
  • Scaling up VCM 2.0 powered by a robust & reliable financial market infrastructure allowing for better mitigation and management of risks associated with carbon credits

This invitation-only dialogue will feature, among others:

  • Dirk Forrister, President and CEO at IETA
  • Jon Moore, CEO of BloombergNEF
  • Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (UN SRSG) for Sustainable Energy for All, and Co-Chair of UN-Energy
  • Dharsono Hartono, Permanent Chair at ASEAN Alliance on Carbon Markets (AACM) and Chairman of KADIN Net Zero Hub
